"Avance should stay open because they helped open doors for me. They opened doors to multiple different colleges. During my time at school, I was able to travel to places I could never dream of going, like Puerto Rico, Arizona, and New York. I was able to participate in cross country and I was able to run the LA Marathon."

"They offer support with IEPs, if I am ever behind. They offer pullouts—200 minutes—that help me focus and understand the teachers and understand the work. The support gives good impact and helps me express my mind. They keep me updated and it is much easier. It is more calm and a good environment. In my previous school, it was not like that. It was destructive. I am grateful to be a part of this school."

"Me acuerdo ver el letrero de Avance for new enrollment. Estoy aquí desde mi primer hijo Giovanni. Me gustaría que quedara abierta porque es una escuela que yo empecé a traer a mis hijos desde el más mayor, desde que abrieron la escuela. Mis tres hijos se graduaron de esta high school. Uno está por graduarse. Uno fue a Dominguez Hills, y el otro a Cal State LA, y el otro se fue a Trade Tech. Es una escuela muy buena. Se enfocan en los estudiantes. Lo que me gusta es que cuando los maestros ven que los estudiantes están bajando las calificaciones, los maestros notifican a los padres para que puedan mejorar sus calificaciones. Son menos estudiantes y los maestros se enfocan y se preocupan para que los estudiantes sean exitosos."

“Avance has empowered my inner tenacity, and networking skills, by providing multiple great opportunities throughout high school. Such as being granted the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. to protest with Unidos US. This was a great opportunity to network, as we met with leaders of other charter schools, and observed the importance of schools, such as Avance. The close relationships, being able to seek help, and student attention, has helped me become the scholar who enjoys giving back to the community.”

“Avance is important to the community because we have a lot of undocumented people that come here and this school gives them a chance to get an education and learn and an opportunity to better themselves and develop more as people.”
